Q:
I have been unable to find any information on a large two handled jar
with lid that I possess. It is almost ginger jar shaped and decorated with a yellow, brown and green floral design. A mark suggests it to be from around 1850-1900. Can
anyone assist, or tell me who to contact for further information. Thank You
Norma Watson

Q:
I have a sword with about a 24 inch blade. The handle is approximately 6 inches
long and consists of a detailed lion's head with a ring through its mouth and is
very weighty. It has a partial metal and leather sheath. The metal part of the
sheath has a raised knob, with a petal lipped bottom. The hilt is gondola shaped.
The handle and metal part of the sheath appear to be bronzed. I would be grateful
if anyone could help in identifying or letting me know where to take it to for
valuation/authentication?

Q:
I have a Maxitone gramophone circa 1930 oak coloured approx 80cms width 75
cms height with legs shaped in a curly twist. One side stores records and
there is a door which opens to increase sound. I am interested to know
whether such items have any value and where I could find it a home as I
would not like to just throw it out. Likewise I have the same problem with
a 1938 Doll's House Width 120cms Height 58cms.

Q:
I am interested in obtaining further information about the following items and would also
like to find out where I could obtain valuations.
A 1959 Werlitzer Organ. The condition is good and the owners manual
is still in the bench along with the old music books.
Correspondence from WW1. Also enclosed are some cards passed
out by the Pope for the soldiers during Holy Communion. These appear to be in
mint condition. There is also a First Communion book dated 1912.
An old iron that appears to be from the early 1900s
Thank you in advance for any help or information.
Q:
We have hundreds of old athletci programmes that date back to the early 1920s. I also have
some old football programmes and some title deed certificates.

find out more about it and any possible value.

Q: I have a copy of the New Seekers - I'd Like to Buy the World
a Coke single from when I was young. I keep packing and unpacking it, saying
that one day I'll find out if its worth anything. The sleeve has perished
rather but the record itself is OK. Also, I have some Beatles fan club
'floppy' or 'flexi' disks. Again the sleeves aren't pristine, but the records
are fine. What are these likely to be worth?

Q: I have 2 rare Sindy dolls which were produced for a 1986
relaunch of Pedigree Dolls and Toys Ltd., prior to the takeover by Hambro
Milton Bradley. They are boxed, mint condition 'Magic Colour Change' Sindys.
Few were produced ,and they were not widely retailed, if at all.I understand
that they are very sought after and collectable, and would like to know
their value.

Q: What is the correct name for those boxes that were mounted
on the Kitchen wall or on the Butler's office wall to call for service
in a particular room within the big old houses. The box would display 'flags'
of some kind, in little windows, to represent each room in the house and
when the attendance of the Butler or maid was required the flag would 'go
up' in the appropriate window. These devices were once operated by 'pull
wires' but later by electricity when solenoids would moves the flags. What
is the correct name for these quaint devices, please?

Q: I have a silver-coloured candlestick-shaped piece of metal.
Certainly, it has been used for candles, although it looks incomplete -
perhaps a base for something? It is 8cm tall and in its circular cavety
has three 'prongs' with a further three protrusions on either side of these
that appear broken and having originally had a different function. The
base is green felt that is removable. Also, on this base on the outer rim,
it reads 'BRAMA' SP ON ZINC ENGLAND. Can anybody identify this object,
estimate its worth (if any) and explain its inscription?

Q: I have had a Teddy Bear since my childhood (1960's) which
has suffered some deterioration and discolouration. Can anybody identify
this teddy and estimate its current value? The measurements are 30cm in
length, there is no trace of labels etc and the colours are: Ears/mid-section
(white or grey); Face/four paws (yellow or golden); orange and black eyes;
black stitching for nose & red limbs.

price of 9d on it ..the music is *THE HERD GIRLS DREAM" by Schumann quartet.I
have more with much the same description. Thanks

Q: What is the current interest in toy robots as collectable
items? I have read that more recent robots are worth keeping as they will
become collectable. I have a toy robot which is mainly blue/white with
yellow eyes and mouth. It has put-a-way parts, moves along a flat surface
via a type of self-wind up wheel and has minor scratches. When compact
it is 6.5cm by 6.5cm. On the base it has "c" encircled and "Bandai 1986
Japan".

Q: I have four phone cards, unused, that were made to support
a book launch. Can you tell me of a web site dealing in phone cards, or
give me an estimated value?
Margaret
Q: I have a silver-coloured tankard with an identical floral
display on either side. It is not straight-sided and is approx 13.5 cm
high. The base has "AK" encircled on it. The tankard has a diamond-shape
incision underneath its handle, and the tankard appears burnt inside, so
would need appropriate restoration. It is approx 400 grames in weight and
possibly brass or electroplate.

Q: I have recently acquired a wartime version of the board game
Monopoly. It has a much smaller box than the standard game and as far as
I can tell it is in excellent condition. It even has a slip of paper stating
why the player pieces have been replaced with cardboard figures on wooden
blocks (due to rationing). There is just one house missing and I'm not
sure if the standard sized board I have is an original part of this set.
Could you
tell me if it is valuable and if it is possible to replace the missing
piece(s). Thankyou.

Q: I have a book entitled "Galloway's School Book of Useful
Knowledge" by P.H.Galloway LTD. It may be dated around 1930 and it is readable
and complete, but does have some damage to the spine and ink markings inside.
Does anybody know its value (if any) or is it more a collectors item due
