Kevin Baker joined Tennants
Auctioneers, the largest UK regional saleroom, in 1991 when the new Auction
Centre in Leyburn on the edge of Wensleydale was first opened. An Associate
Director, his prime responsibility is for the seasonal Catalogue Sales.
He specialises in European ceramics of all periods, and furniture.
The Auction Centre hosts sales
most weeks, comprising antique and household goods. The Catalogue Sales,
which attract buyers from around the world, include fine furniture, paintings,
silver, jewellery, clocks, ceramics and works of art.
The old-established firm is
now in the hands of Rodney Tennant, the third generation of auctioneers
in his family. Rodney has been responsible for the amalgamation of the
company's two old salerooms and separate offices into the present purpose
built Auction Centre, which has parking for 400 cars and a licensed restaurant
onsite.
